The Hellish Synopsis

Hi to all my Friends!

I finally got a chance to get online today. John Deere is working my tail off! Anyway, how's everyone been? What's been happening? I'll be cruising your blogs here in a little while, so I'll figure it out sooner or later. Still, I miss you guys. Time to play a little catch up.

It's been crazy the past few months. Not only did I publish two stories, but I got another one on its way to publication, or has been accepted, for want of a better word. Yes! And this one is not a horror story at all...it's a Christmas story, all warm and cuddly. It's for an anthology at Whortle Berry Press. Christmas cat stories. It was a fun time writing that one. At Steel Moon Publishing they've got an anthology themed on the Zodiac symbols...I've submitted my story for Libra and we'll see what happens. I've also been submitting to a few horror anthologies. Horror Library being only one. Cutting Block Press has a call for submissions for both their Horror Library and Butcher Shop Quartet anthologies. If you're curious go check these out. Great stories all around!
Anyway, for the Butcher Shops Quartet I've gotta write a story that's novella length(15,000 to 20,000 words). With longer works like these I write them long hand first/ I've got a full one subject notebook full already. It's going great! I just have one problem...they call for a synopsis too. Now, I've written only one synopsis in my day, and I don't think it was very good. Do any of you know how to write a good synopsis? I'm at a loss here. I've googled it, but none of what I read makes much sense.

I get the fact that its supposed to go through and tell a simplified version of the story, but I'm not exactly sure on that. If you can figure out anything, I'd be glad to know. And thanks.

I'll be posting more stories in the next couple weeks, I just need the time to sit down and do so. One is a Thanksgiving story....we'll see what you think about that one, he-he. Anyhoo, I'll talk to you all later! Have a good one!

So far I've had very little luck with any synopsis I've ever done. CS. Harris, who is linked to my blog, had some posts on writing a synopsis back some time ago. I can't remember the titles of those just now.

Good to see you back, and major congrats on the story acceptances. Sounds like you have been very busy. Same has been true here the last few weeks. I'm so far behind I think I'm about to meet myself coming the opposite way.

That's so funny! I've been complaining about having to write a synopsis too! Wow, I'm really impressed with your drive. Maybe I'll move it up a notch and try to get some more things out.

Charles, I'll check out CS's blog and see if I can't find something. If doesn't mind, of course. I'm glad to be back Charles! And thanks for all the support!I have been very busy, and it looks like I'm to get busier. Lol. And even with prolificness, I too am falling behind on most everything. Perhaps you have met yourself comignt eh opposite way, buddy...I know have twice already. Kind of a freaking thing to happen to a fellow. anyway, thanks so much!

Christina, yeah, a synopsis has got to be the hardest thing for a writer to complete successfully. It just strikes me as odd that I can't find any information about how to write a good one.
Drive? Or obsession? I don't know, but I keep getting this hurry up feeling every time I slow down to catch my breath. Some thing's telling me: "Alright, Kimmo-Sobbie, you've been tinkering around for over nine years, time to start moving your buns before they get burnt!" So I've been moving my buns. I work, come home, write, go to bed, eat, write, work, write, go to bed. It's a vicious cycle, let me tell you. Don't speed up on my account, work at your own pace, and create beauty, fro which I know you are capable of. Thanks! Later.

Hey Lucas,

Nice to hear another one is on it's way to the publishers! I'll stop by to read some of your new posts. Seems like work has got you in a tight hold at the moment. Till soon!

Glad to hear about your success with submissions!

I wish I had some advice about writing a synopsis. I don't do it very well either.

Fab, thanks! Can't wait to see you again! Yeah, work is a pain when I can't do much writing or blogging. I'm trying reorganize my schedule so that I'll get about an hour of writing time and about half an hour blogging time. It isn't much, but it's all I can figure out at this time. As always, its been a pleasure.

Travis, thanks! It's a small start, what's been going on with my writing, but at least it's a start, and I'm happy either way. At least now I'm published. That's all that matters. And both Steel Moon and Whortle Berry Press have become good friends of mine. I'm so glad to have them, as I am glad to have my friends here in the blog world. Don't worry about the synopsis, I think I figured it out. Later.
